Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist

Clare has worked as a doctor in the NHS since 2005 with many years experience as a Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist. During this time she has treated children and young people in the community and inpatient settings within the NHS with a range of different mental health conditions. Clare has worked with a wide range of teams, including: child and young person crisis teams, neurodevelopment teams, eating disorder teams and inpatient teams. Clare has a particular interest in individualised, person-centred practice and has published research on the impact of social prescribing and self-help toolkits on young people’s mental health. 

Clare has expertise in the treatment of Depression, Anxiety conditions, including anxiety related to Autism, Eating Disorders including Avoidance Restrictive Intake Disorder (ARFID), and Neurodevelopmental conditions, including attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). She has qualifications in CBT, DBT and Mindfulness.

Clare is committed to utilising the latest research and innovations to help young people to improve their mental health. She works with NHS organisations and Universities researching a wide range of topics within child mental health, including interventions for hyperacuity in young people with autism, and the treatment options for young people with eating disorders.

Outside of work Clare loves spending time with her 4 children and many pets. When she can she also enjoys hiking and painting.
