Dr Clare Fenton is a York based Child Psychiatrist. The Amber Tree is a Private Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) for York and North Yorkshire. The Amber Tree offers treatment for children and young people experiencing psychiatric, psychological or emotional problems that interfere with their interpersonal, educational and social functioning.

We offer diagnostic assessments and/or treatments on a virtual platform and/or in person in the comfort of your own home or school.

Diagnostic assessments may be possible in one session that usually lasts around 1-2 hours; however, it is important to ensure you feel comfortable, able to communicate and that the assessment is thorough enough to give an accurate report to give a diagnosis and inform the treatment plan. For this reason, some assessments may take up to 4-6 appointments over a few weeks. Additionally, we may occasionally require a visit to your school to assess symptoms that occur in different environments and discuss needs with your pastoral carer/teacher.

The decision to have treatment with us will be taken collaboratively with your Amber Tree clinician, parent/carer and yourself after an initial assessment of treatment needs. Sometimes treatment will need to involve more than one service, particularly if there is a high level of need. The Amber Tree will work with NHS services, social care services and other private providers as required. If we do not think we can meet the treatment needs after assessment we will discuss why and what is required.
